Green Knowledge Is Power

Here's another series of excerpts from an article confirming how important the movement to Green is for ALL Cleaning: FROM - The Easy Way To Go Green Newsletter

Many facilities decision-makers remain jaded by green products of the past. These early environmentally preferable options were often very costly and delivered questionable results. Because of this, scores of individuals were weary to fully embrace green product procurement.

Today, however, manufacturers are taking their years of research and development data and are implementing that expertise into green product formulations that outperform traditional chemicals at comparable costs with a reduced impact on building occupants and the environment.

Industry research shows that 72 percent of cleaning professionals prefer to clean with milder chemicals.

"Green cleaning is coming of age," opines Steve Ashkin, president of The Ashkin Group LLC.

Implementing Green

As statistics show, 70 percent of custodial professionals are interested in helping their company or organization go green.

Included in some product literature are steps that can be taken to ensure the success of your green cleaning initiative, including which chemicals and equipment will best suit your daily operations.

Green products must work well, use resources efficiently and not put human health or that of the environment at risk during or after use.

If a supposed green product does not meet this basic criteria, its level of greenness should be questioned.
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) estimates that people spend up to 90 percent of their time indoors.

As such, it is increasingly important that we clean our indoor environments with less toxic alternatives — notably those containing little or no volatile organic compounds (VOC) — that will not harm those occupying the buildings we clean and maintain.

Poor indoor air quality can hamper employee productivity and, according to the EPA, cost businesses "tens of billions of dollars per year."

Seeing The Difference

Going green is not only the proper thing to do from an environmental standpoint; it can be a financial boon, too.

Green cleaning — or using cleaning products and methods that focus on natural ingredients — is in the best interests of businesses, tenants and cleaning professionals. By using products with naturally derived ingredients, businesses can attract new customers and reap the rewards of having more satisfied tenants and employees, which contributes to a healthy bottom line.
According to a February 2009 Vatoca Partners survey, 7 out of 10 consumers prefer to patronize a business that demonstrates a commitment to the environment.

Because of its very nature, a green cleaning program will help reduce operational costs through improved efficiency and reduced product usage.

Overall, a green cleaning program can empower your facility, company or organization to reduce its carbon footprint while making for cleaner, healthier and happier indoor environments.

Spring Cleaning Tips For Restaurants

Here's a list that outlines some good Spring Cleaning Tasks that everyone should consider in their high traffic facilities.

Springtime offers restaurant operators and food service facility managers the opportunity to wipe away winter grime, prepare for summer traffic and perform essential deep cleaning tasks to revive floors and other hard surfaces.

Restaurant owners and operators can complete eight effective cleaning tasks to ensure they make a favorable first impression with travelers and summer guests.

EATOILS™ recommends restaurants complete the following spring cleaning checklist to prepare for summer:

1. Deep clean carpets in dining areas with EATOILS™ SUPER CARPET-FRESH™. While daily vacuuming and spot removal is an essential component to keeping carpets in optimal condition, regular deep cleaning of carpets removes food, dirt and debris that cannot otherwise be extracted. Hot-water extraction carpet cleaning systems using EATOILS™ SUPER CARPET-FRESH™ will remove residue left behind by other cleaning systems and reduce the amount of downtime required.

2. Restore grout lines with EATOILS™ SUPER FLOOR DEGREASER™ or SUPERFRESH™. With tiled hard floor surfaces, grout lines often harbor greases, oils, bacteria and dirt, causing them to discolor and darken. This is particularly evident in busy kitchen areas and entryway areas. Regularly deep cleaning and restoring grout lines will limit the amount of dirt that accumulates and keep grout lines looking their original color.

3. Steam clean tiled floor surfaces with EATOILS™ SUPERFRESH™. A high-pressure steam cleaning system effectively removes dirt and soil from tile and other hard surface substrates. SUPERFRESH™ will deep clean into the pores of all surfaces to remove microscopic residue. This is a great advantage for hard surfaces where leftover chemical residue can leave unsightly marks.

4. Give restrooms a facelift with EATOILS™ SUPERFRESH™ . Restrooms can suffer from winter wear. Dirt and organic material can build up on floors, fixtures and common touch points throughout the restroom. Using a high-pressure, chemical injection washer together with SUPERFRESH™, you can thoroughly deep clean all restroom surfaces, including walls, floors, commodes, light fixtures and soap and towel dispensers. This removes grime and buildup, restoring floors to like new condition.

5. Roll out the mats. With spring rain showers on their way, now is the ideal time to review the current matting program and make sure mats adequately cover entryways and other high-traffic areas in the facility. Mats not only help reduce the risk of slips and falls, but they can also help improve worker productivity, build the restaurant brand, limit wear patterns and prevent dirt from entering the restaurant. A proper matting program will also integrate regular laundering and deep cleaning for maximum effectiveness. If you own your mats you can deep clean and deodorize them with EATOILS™ SUPERFRESH™ - it even helps to remove salt stains!

6. If you are not currently using EATOILS™ GREENER-CHOICE™ APPROVED GREEN cleaning products you will need to implement a mop cleaning program. Mop heads are often breeding grounds for dirt and bacteria, especially when you use harsh chemical cleaners. Implementing a mop cleaning program can make sure that the task of cleaning mops is not overlooked. Dry and wet mops should be cleaned at least once a week, if not more frequently. This helps ensure that mops contribute to a clean rather than dirty floor. Regular daily use of EATOILS™ products will extend the life of mopheads and cleaning cloths and keep your equipment smelling fresh and clean - most odors that build up on cleaning mops and cloths are due to the chemicals used. EATOILS™ SUPERFRESH™ is an ideal cleaning/deodorizing solution for all types of surfaces.

7. Set up a maintenance schedule for your drains with EATOILS™ SUPERFLOW™ . Whether located in kitchen areas, restrooms or in the front of the facility, drain lines can harbor potentially harmful bacteria or food sources for familiar summer insects such as gnats and fruit flies. Perform regular drain line maintenance to reduce soil buildup and thoroughly clean drains. Weekly use of SUPERFLOW™ will help to keep your drain lines running clear and insect and odor free.

8. Deep clean every hidden and hard to reach surface with EATOILS™ SUPERFRESH™ and then SANITIZE every surface with a dependable anti-microbial sanitizer. While food preparation and cooking areas receive regular attention, spring is a good time to clean all of those untouched areas throughout a restaurant, including the tops of refrigerators, behind fryers and underneath cupboards.

“Common winter products such as ice melter and sand can ruin hard and soft floor surfaces, eroding floor finish and deteriorating carpet fibers,” said Charles Robinson, National Sales Manager, WorldWare Enterprises Ltd., Manufacturer of EATOILS™ Products. “Without a proper and regular deep cleaning and maintenance program, common surfaces throughout the facility can suffer long-term damage resulting in unexpected costs.”

Once you have 'spruced up' your facility, it's time to revise your regular daily cleaning to incorporate EATOILS™ Green Deep Cleaning products into your regular routine. Green Deep Cleaning involves a two step cleaning regimen - cleaning and sanitizing. Sanitizers do not deep clean and deep cleaning products do not sanitize. Here's how you do it: Deep clean every surface with EATOILS™ SUPERFRESH™ at the end of every day's production - this give the active microbes in EATOILS™ products the time they need to penetrate deep into cracks and crevices to remove all organic matter - and then sanitize every surface with a dependable anti-microbial sanitizer before you begin food prep every morning. Continue to sanitize throughout the day to keep germs and other contamination at bay.

SUPER CARPET-FRESH(TM) Deep Cleans The New Wicking Sports Fabrics

Wicking Fabrics Quickly Remove Excess Perspiration
Providing More Comfort To The Wearer
The new sports tech 'wicking' fabrics are presenting a challenge to folks who want to clean them safely and to minimize the effects of washing machines on these fabrics. Repeated washing in typical washing machines and dryers can drastically shorten the life of these amazing new fabrics.  These new synthetic fibres are great for wicking perspiration away from your skin while you are exercising, however they can pose an odor problem once you get home.

EATOILS™ SUPER CARPET-FRESH™ is a very safe, GREENER-CHOICE™ APPROVED GREEN cleaning product that can easily deep clean these types of fabrics and extend their useful life.

EATOILS™ SUPER CARPET-FRESH™ deep cleans the fabrics without deteriorating the structure of the fabric. Once the cleaning solution comes in contact with the fabrics billions of tiny scrubbers attack the dirt, perspiration, germs, odor causing molecules, and any other residue on the fabrics and deep cleans everything away. These tiny scrubbers keep on working for up to 4 days removing all traces of organic materials and it converts them into harmless gases (oxygen, water, and carbon dioxide) - effectively removing all odors and residue. A simple rinse and you can hang it to dry. Next morning your clothes are ready and waiting for you - like new!

We have been using this product for years for deep cleaning and deodorizing the worst odors - even skunk! As a matter of fact, professional hockey and football teams have used this product for years to clean and deodorize sports equipment that can't be washed in the normal way - pads, skates, cleats, shoes, and equipment bags.

One of our regular clients, Carmen, is an avid runner and her kids are very active in soccer, hockey, and baseball. When she gets home after a long run she makes up a mixture of EATOILS™ SUPER CARPET-FRESH™ (2 oz. in a gallon of warm water) and soaks her clothing, the kids' uniforms, and her husband's golf wear in the solution for an hour or so, rinses them and hangs them up to dry. The next morning all the clothes are ready to wear! No mess! No trouble and . . . no odor!

Testimonial - When It Comes To Deep Cleaning Diesel And Oil Stains From Concrete - There Is No Substitute For Eatoils(TM) BT200(TM)

typical truck fueling station before and after
use of EATOILS™ BT200™ (1 treatment)
Here is a testimonial from one of our mobile wash contractors who uses EATOILS™ BT200™ for cleaning hydrocarbon impacted concrete pads:

I am the owner of a mobile “environmental” pressure washing company and we specialize in everything from spill cleanup, diesel and fuel pad cleaning, mold/mildew abatement to fleet washing with full reclaim and recycle.

One of our toughest jobs is removing oil and grease stains from a diesel fuel pad. Over the years, we have tried just about every degreaser, green product and even 3-4 different types of Bio-enzymatic cleaners. One account in particular was washed with EATOILS™ BT200™ on our first wash. They were highly impressed with the results and I have to admit, I was surprised to see how many of these 2-3 years old stains came out of the concrete. The thick black oil and diesel buildup just peeled away when we used the BT200™ as instructed.

Over the subsequent cleanings, I felt it would be a great opportunity to test other products and see how they stacked up against the EATOILS™ product. After six more washings, I was asked to meet with the Director of maintenance and his concerns were clear… “We would like you to put as much into the job now as you did on the first wash”.

I was stunned that they thought I might not be as interested in cleaning their diesel pads now as I had been 24 months ago (pads are cleaned quarterly). He went on to explain that after the first wash, the pads actually continued to lighten.

Our next visit, I used the EATOILS™ BT200™ and once again, my client was thrilled with the results. It took me 6 months and a potentially unhappy client to determine that there is NO SUBSTITUTE for the EATOILS™ product.

We also use their SUPERFRESH™ product when we clean compactors or anywhere that has an odor that traditional chemicals and 200-degree water just can’t conquer. The SUPERFRESH™ product is absolutely amazing. We always have a bottle in our home for the laundry and when we wash our children’s clothes, we throw a shot in and it removes any and all odors.

If you haven’t used the EATOILS™ products yet, you owe it to yourself to order up a couple of 5-gallon pails of the products that you will most likely use. It truly is the best way to let the cleaner do the work! Their customer service is fantastic and shipping is prompt.

Cleaning Austin Stone With EATOILS™ BT200™

Austin Stone siding - Before
Austin Stone Siding - After
EATOILS™ BT200™ cleaned this Austin Stone sided house located in Houston, TX.

Clean and Green Solutions LLC, the Houston, TX based distributor for EATOILS™ cleaning products was called to this home to provide an estimate to clean the Austin Stone siding on the exterior of the house.

Betsie Weathorford called Clean and Green Solutions LLC after seeing their website.  Ms. Weatherford was impressed with the web site and the fact that they only use the EATOILS™ brand of GREENER-CHOICE™ APPROVED GREEN Cleaning Products. Several areas of the home were badly stained with Mold and Mildew as you see in the first picture (Before) above.  Ms. Weatherford did NOT want to hire a company that would use dangerous, toxic chemicals or bleach to remove the stains from her home.

Clean and Green Solutions LLC used EATOILS™ products and did the job without harmful chemicals and the customer's wishes were satisfied.  The results of the cleaning with EATOILS™ are in the second picture (After) above.

Here is how they did it:  They mixed the EATOILS™ BT200™ at 4 ounces to a gallon of warm water. Using a pump-up 'garden type' sprayer they applied the BT200™ solution to the stains and brushed the solution into the stone, using a street broom. They waited approximately 20-30 minutes and rinsed the stains off using a power washer at very low pressure (100 - 200 psi).

Ms. Weatherford was extremely happy with the results and she enjoyed the peace of mind that her home was not cleaned with dangerous chemicals.

Understanding Bio-enzymatic Cleaners

There is a new "kid in town" and he's claiming to be the best solution for all your cleaning needs.  He claims that he is a Bio-enzymatic cleaner.  First thing you need to know is that no one product can do all of your cleaning jobs.

There are three major jobs - sanitizing, de-scaling, and cleaning.  Sanitizing is used to kill germs - products are usually high acid or caustic products like bleach, quaternary ammonia, or other chemically based killing products.  De-scaling products typically remove salts like rust, calcium & lime deposits that can build up from hard water in sinks, bowls, and on tile surfaces in showers - these products are usually high acid based fluids which chemically 'etch' the salts away.  Both of these types of products are typically harmful to the user and carry 'skeleton hand' and other warnings on the labels.  Cleaning is the removal of all other contaminants from the surface.  One of the best ways to remove contaminants from all surfaces is with microbial action.  Bio-enzymatic cleaners use microbial action to continuously clean the surface and remove both organic and inorganic compounds.  By using bacteria and enzymes organic materials can be broken down and digested, thus eliminating the 'food' from the surface.

In order to be a bio-enzymatic cleaner the product must incorporate bacteria and enzymes in its formula in some way.  The concentrations of components can vary as can the jobs that the products are designed to do.  Each different type of bacteria and every enzyme does different things.  The actual blending of different microbes with different enzymes and surfactant packages yield very different cleaning products of different strengths.

As with most things in life, not all Bio-enzymatic cleaners are created equal - you must see the results before you make your decision about which product best suits your needs.  For example, you should first determine what job you are looking to address.  In general, there are several jobs that Bio-enzymatic cleaners are ideally suited to do: 1) automotive oil and grease removal, 2) deep cleaning and odor control, 3) food grease removal, 4) grease trap treatment, 5) drain opening and maintenance, 6) septic treatment, 7) waste water treatment, 8) laundry pretreatment and stain removal, 9) carpet cleaning and deodorizing, 10) parts washing, 11) tank cleaning, 12) bioremediation of soil and water, etc.  Different formulas excel at different jobs.

At WorldWare Enterprises Ltd. we have developed a line of very exceptional bio-enzymatic cleaners - our EATOILS™ brand of products, with specific products formulated to excel at each of the cleaning jobs outlined above.  Our products have proven to outperform other bio-enzymatic cleaning products when compared on actual job sites. All of our EATOILS products are GREENER-CHOICE APPROVED GREEN.

EATOILS™ Super Carpet Fresh™ Cleans Up Old Chocolate Milk Stain In Car

Here's another testimonial from one of our distributors - Doug Rucker of Clean and Green Solutions, in Houston:

"Two weeks ago I received a phone call from a very good friend and client of Clean and Green Solutions, Julia Beckman. Julia had just lifted up her son’s (EJ) booster chair in the back seat of her mini van and discovered a month old chocolate milk stain on the car upholstery. She called me and wanted to know if the EATOILS™ SUPER CARPET-FRESH™ would remove the stain. Julia has been buying the SUPER CARPET-FRESH™  for quite some time now to use in her home for carpeting and tile and grout stains, and also to clean up after those unfortunate and untimely pet accidents.

I assured Julia that the EATOILS™ SUPER CARPET-FRESH™  would remove the stain and odor, even to the point where she would never know that it was there.

I saw Julia at church about a week later and asked her how the Super Carpet Fresh did on the stain in her van and she replied, “Yes, it took it right out, you can’t even tell it was there.”

This past weekend I sent her a message on Facebook asking her if I could use her name and write a little note about it. Here is her answer, copied and pasted directly from her reply:- "You may use my name!!! It was at least a month old chocolate milk underneath a car seat. I wiped up the crunchy stuff with a damp towel and then EATOILS™ SUPER CARPET-FRESH™ on the stain....it came right up! Sprayed a little while longer (to make sure it saturated underneath the fabric) and by the next day not one trace of the stain and no smell! Take an elaborate what you want!"

As you can see she was quite happy with the results. EATOILS™ SUPER CARPET-FRESH™ is absolutely the best carpet, tile and grout, fabric, and upholstery cleaner and deodorizer on the market today. Plus it is GREENER-CHOICE™ APPROVED GREEN, which means it contains ZERO harmful chemicals or ingredients."

Thanks Doug!  We love those testimonials!  Please keep them coming.

Here's a graphic picture showing how an organic spill occurs - the liquid (wine, milk, coffee, tea, juice, chocolate milk, food, oil, etc.) pours through the carpeting and/or fabric and through to whatever is behind - carpet padding, underlay, floor in the case of carpeting (padding, fill, batting, etc. in the case of upholstery). Surface stains can be small - an inch or two across - but below the visible surface they can actually spread up to ten times as wide behind the stain. Whatever method you use to clean the carpet/material you need to address the entire stain, otherwise you will discover that you will have a 'ring' of color that will re-appear around the cleaned area once it dries (this is the stain actually 'wicking' up the material at the perimeter of the cleaned area).  So, for best results, you will need to clean an area much larger that the surface stain area.  The cleaning product needs to penetrate the entire stain and it must effectively attack the stain and remove the source of the stain, preferably with a bio-enzymatic cleaning system that will use billions of tiny microbes - like Pacmen™ - to continuously clean the stain until it is completely removed.  Using a continuous cleaning formula like EATOILS™ SUPER CARPET-FRESH™ is an ideal way to ensure that the entire stain is removed both quickly and safely.
