A Skunk, A White Cat, And Tomato Juice - The True Story

We hear these types of stories all the time, but this one was a little different.  This is the story of a little white cat who came across a skunk and the result of that encounter.

Recently, I was at one of my regular networking meetings with several of my colleagues from different industries.  Linda, the local Kwik Kopy Printing franchise owner, was talking about her recent weekend trip away from town and what she came home to . . .

"While I was away, it seems that my little white cat, Mader (shown here with her buddy, Abby, The Black Lab) went out exploring near our property and somehow had found herself 'face to face' with another pussycat - a  little black and white striped pussycat - not! - it was a very real, very smelly SKUNK!  The skunk was apparently not impressed with our little Mader or her advances, so as skunks do, she sprayed our little kitty.  Anyway, when she finally came home she smelled very skunkish so the lady who was housesitting for us tried the 'old tomato juice treatment' on our poor little pussy, washing her from head to toe in the stuff to get rid of the skunk smell.  When she was finished she was horrified to find that our little white pussy had turned PINK - and that she smelled worse than ever! As you've probably gathered by now, the old home remedy of tomato juice doesn't work to remove skunk odor.

Removing skunk odor

Skunks have a very strong and persistent odor that they 'spray' as a defence strategy whenever they feel threatened during an encounter. Skunk oil is very hard to remove and it can make both you and your pet very uncomfortable until it is eliminated. Over the years many remedies for skunk spray have been tried. Unfortunately, until now, the results have been unimpressive.

In as little as 5 minutes you can remove the oil that causes the odor and replace it with a fresh smelling scent. Here's how:

1) Just mix 6 ounces of EATOILS™ SUPERFRESH™ or SUPER CARPET-FRESH™ per gallon of warm water and wash your pet from head to toe with the mixture and a wash cloth, (be careful not to get any in their eyes) and use your hands to rub it deep into their fur and skin. You can also make up a bath with the mixture and immerse your pet into the bath so you can wet your pet right down to the skin, everywhere. It is very important to totally wet your pet with the solution so the product can penetrate deep into the pores of the skin and remove all traces of the skunk oil.

2) Take a dry towel and rub your pet all over to remove the wetness and follow with a good brushing - you'll both be very happy with the results! No more skunk smell and your pet will have a wonderful, just washed, 'fresh smell' instead.

3) Use the same mixture to clean all contact surfaces where the smell is lingering, pet beds, floor areas - any area where the pet has settled since the encounter.

4) You can make up a weaker mixture (4 ounces per gallon) for regular cleaning days - your pet will love you for it and there will be no more pet odor when you wash him or her with EATOILS™ SUPERFRESH™ or SUPER CARPET-FRESH™.
